Go North (compass bearing 10°) until 8.5km point. Stony at the start.
Km 0,8 :
Small stony hill.
Km 1,6 :
End of small hill. Flat ground, slightly stony.
Km 5,8 :
Start of sandy area.
Km 6,5 :
Beginning of dunes. Follow 10° compass point (North) to cross dunes.
Km 8 :
End of dunes. Very stony ground.
Km 8,5 :
Burial mound on stony plateau. Follow markings in the very stony river bed.
Km 9,1 :
Start climbing jebel El Oftal (average slope factor 17%).
Km 10,3 :
End of river bed. Head left to reach jebel summit.
Km 10,5 :
Jebel summit. Be careful, tricky descent in the beginning then sandy with more
than 20% slope factor on average.
Km 10,8 :
End of sandy descent. Stony ground with tricky passages.
Km 12 :
CP1 on edge of Rheris wadi. Direction generally S/E (compass point 133°)
to reach CP2. Follow markings in middle of tamarisk trees. Soft ground then small
dunes.
Km 14 :
Flat, slightly stony ground. Go alongside small dunes on your right.
Km 16 :
Small dunes and uneven packed ground. Big dunes in wadi and big tamarisk trees
on your right until CP2.
Km 22 :
CP2 on the right of Ba Hallou ruins. Go South (compass point 173°) until
29km point. Follow the edge of sandy wadi.
Km 24 :
End of wadi. Packed ground. Go alongside wadi on your right, crossing several
areas of tamarisk trees.
Km 29 :
Track. Mound on your left. Aim left to enter the dunes.
Km 30,6 :
Beginning of sand. SE direction (compass point 129°).
Km 31,8 :
Cross dune area, following compass point 118° until CP3.
Km 36 :
CP3 behind the dunes. Go alongside jebel on your left. E/SE direction (compass
point 107°).
Stony ground.
Km 37 :
Dwellings. Sandy climb heading towards jebel Foum Al Opaht.
Km 38,5 :
Jebel summit, after 150m sharp climb (nearly 25%). Tricky descent over 50m,
then more or less uneven footpath through river bed.
Km 39,5 :
End of climb down. Stony valley. Go East (compass point 77°) until CP4.
Km 41 :
Beginning of dunes. Follow compass point 77° until CP4.
Km 48,5 :
CP4 at foot of rocky peak. Take 28° compass point to exit dunes.
Km 50,5 :
End of dunes. Slightly stony ground. Keep same N/NE direction to go to the
right of the rocky peak.
Km 51 :
Cross wadi. Mixture of sandy and stony ground.
Km 53,5 :
Rocky peak on your left. Keep N/NE direction (compass point 28°) until
CP5. Undulating terrain, alternating between sand and stone, then slightly
stony.
Km 58,5 :
Go N/E (compass point 52°) on slightly stony ground.
Km 60 :
Cross track. Undulating terrain, not very stony.
Km 61,5 :
Sandy river bed. Go E/NE (compass point 67°).
Km 63,3 :
Trees and fields on your right. Wadi-type vegetation.
Km 64,2 :
Small hills with sandy areas in between.
Km 66,1 :
Occasional small dunes.
Km 68 :
CP6. Slightly stony ground. Go N/NE (compass point 19°) until finish line.
Km 69,3 :
Water tower on your right. Keep same direction, slightly stony ground.
Km 70,2 :
Beginning of dunes to cross. Compass point 19°.
Km 72 :
Arrive at bivouac N°5.
